The National Bible Association is an autonomous, nonpolitical interfaith organization of lay people who advocate regular Bible reading and sponsors National Bible Week (Thanksgiving week) each November. Program activities include public service advertising, distribution of nonsectarian literature and thousands of local Bible Week observances by secular and religious organizations. The Association also urges constitutionally acceptable use of the Bible in public school classrooms, i.e. the study of the Bible in literature. All support comes from individuals, corporations and foundations.
Founded in 1940 by a group of business and professional people, the Association has the IRS nonprofit status of a 501(c)(3) educational association.
