Created in 1988, the Christian Council on Persons with Disabilities (CCPD) is a coalition of churches, non-profit organizations and individuals advocating an evangelical perspective concerning people with disabilities and their place in God's world. The coalition provides a national voice for Christians involved in disability ministry, framing the Christian community's response to issues relating to disability.
CCPD provides information and responses on issues specifically relating to the church such as accessibility, disability theology and outreach; as well as disability-related issues of concern to the general public such as genetic research, end-of-life care and cloning.
Advocacy, professional development, networking and education are all part of the coalition's activities. Annual conferences (both national & regional), chapter groups and mentoring programs are part of the coalition's strategy in strengthening the network of disability ministry.
