Vineyard USA is a community of approximately 600 churches committed to building the church and living under the reign of God. It officially started in Southern California in 1982 under the leadership of John Wimber. The Board of Directors is the governing Board for Vineyard USA. The form of government is Free Church and thus the local Vineyards are free to govern as they desire as long as they do not violate the faith or practices of the Vineyard community. Vineyard USA consists of 8 regions under the direction of a Regional Overseer in each. Each region also has Area Pastoral Care Leaders who give oversight to a small group of pastors in a geographic area. The National Director is the CEO of Vineyard USA and works with the National Board to see that Vineyard USA achieves its purpose.
