Founded as a reorganization of the Dutch Old Catholic Church in 1915-16. In 1941 a controversy broke out in the Church regarding whether or not certain teachings of Theosophy (reincarnation, etc.) were to become official teachings of the Church. The Liberal Catholic Church International split in 2007 into two bodies, The Liberal Catholic Church and the Universal Catholic Church.
